At the start

The first summit finish, at Orcières

Alaphilippe holds yellow by four seconds and the top eight sit within seventeen — nothing has been decided yet. Today it might be: no Tour has ever placed an Alpine summit finish this early, and Orcières-Merlette has not been climbed since Fignon and LeMond fought a mountain time trial up it in 1989. Eleven kilometres at 5.9%, at the end of 3,000 metres of climbing. Anthony Perez went home yesterday.

1. 163 km to go

   The break over the hills

   A hilly Alpine stage sees the escape crest the Cote de Corps as the GC teams keep the leash short before the first summit finish of the race.

2. 219 km to go

   Jumbo take control

   Jumbo-Visma mass at the front over the Cote de Saint-Leger, setting a fierce tempo to reel in the break and launch Roglič on the climb to Orcieres.

3. 32 km to go

   Roglič pounces

   In the final kilometre of the climb to Orcieres-Merlette, Primož Roglič accelerates and no one can respond, the Slovenian answering every question over his fitness.

4. 4At the line

   Roglič wins at Orcieres

   Roglič takes the first summit finish of the Tour as Alaphilippe defends yellow, the Jumbo leader stamping his authority on the race.
