At the start

To Pau, with the Pyrenees waiting

A crash twelve kilometres from Villeneuve-sur-Lot flipped Primož Roglič over his bars. He lost 2:27 and has fallen to sixth, 4:42 down, and six more riders failed to finish. Biniam Girmay took his third stage win and leads the points classification by a street. Today runs 172 kilometres to Pau with a rolling final forty and two late côtes — enough to tempt the attackers, not quite enough to stop the fast men.

How it was won

  1. 58 km to go

Visma split it in the wind

Visma-Lease a Bike hit the crosswinds hard and the peloton shatters; Pogačar, Vingegaard and a lone Evenepoel all make the front as lesser sprinters are shelled.

  2. 22 km to go

    Carapaz and Johannessen counter

Over the late Côte de Blachon a two-man counter dangles off the front, the last resistance before the sprint squads reassert control on the run to Pau.

  3. At the line

    Philipsen strikes in Pau

Out of a messy, disorganised finale Philipsen times his jump off Van Aert perfectly for a second win in four days at the gateway to the Pyrenees.
