At the start

The sprinters' last dance, to Nîmes

Plateau de Beille pushed the lead out to 3:09 over Jonas Vingegaard and 5:19 over Remco Evenepoel. After the rest day this is the fast men's last chance — 190 kilometres from the coast at Gruissan to Nîmes, essentially flat, on the day after two Pyrenean stages that several of them survived by under two minutes. The Mistral blows here in July, and the closing forty kilometres are exposed and full of turns.

How it was won

  1. 2 km to go

Girmay crashes in the final 2km

On the run into Nîmes green jersey Girmay hits the deck inside the last 2km, reopening the points battle he had seemed to have sewn up.

  2. At the line

    Philipsen's third win

Van der Poel drops Philipsen off in the perfect spot and the Belgian eases to a dominant third stage win on the last flat day of the Tour.
