Before the race

Through the Cévennes to the Croix Neuve

Montpellier to Mende climbs into the Cévennes: the Col du Vent, then the Col de la Lusette, 11.6 kilometres at 7.3%, and on up Mont Aigoual above 1,500 metres. The new Côte de l'Estrade, 5.7 kilometres at 8.3%, comes inside the last thirty, then the Croix Neuve over Mende, 3 kilometres at 10.1%, where the Tour first finished in 1995. From its top it is a kilometre and a half to the line.
