Tourmalet, then the roof of the race
The queen stage, and the first Tour stage to pair the Tourmalet with the Col du Portet. Out of Pau the road runs flat for barely thirty-five kilometres before the Soulor, 11.8 kilometres at 7.3%; then the Tourmalet, 19 kilometres at 7.4% to 2,115 metres, and the Hourquette d'Ancizan. Last, above Saint-Lary-Soulan, the Portet itself: 16 kilometres at 8.7% to 2,215 metres, the roof of the race.
