Before the race

Basque walls, then the Marie Blanque

The last mountain day leaves Hasparren in the Basque Country for one of the steepest climbs on the route: the Col de Burdincurutcheta, 8.7 kilometres at 9.3% with ramps to 15%, and straight after it the Bagargui. The long Col de Soudet follows, 15.1 kilometres at 7.2%, and last the Col de Marie Blanque, 7.7 kilometres at 8.6%, crested less than twenty kilometres from Laruns: the Tour's final mountain.
