The road
Before the race
North out of the Pyrenees to Libourne
The race turns its back on the Pyrenees and runs north through the Gers, the Lot-et-Garonne and the Gironde. The road rolls and twists early and flattens after Casteljaloux, and the last fifty kilometres, from La Réole by Sauveterre-de-Guyenne, are flat. It ends on a long straight of some six kilometres into Libourne: a sprinters' road on the last Saturday, with three weeks behind it.
