Against the clock in château country
The Tour's first individual time trial leaves Blois and runs south past Cheverny before turning north for Chambord, on roads that barely rise or fall. There is no climb to hide on and nowhere to recover: it is power, held from the start ramp to the line, and the line is drawn in the grounds of the Château de Chambord.
