   Strung out on Hazallanas

   The steep Alto de Hazallanas strings the race out and thins the red-jersey group.

2. 218 km to go

   Contador attacks, López follows

   On the Alto del Purche Contador attacks and López jumps across; tellingly, Froome and Sky decline to chase.

3. 39 km to go

   Time falling to Froome

   On the long final climb the Contador group steadily pulls time out of the red jersey.

4. 44 km to go

   López drops Yates

   López catches a fading Adam Yates and leaves him standing, the stage win beckoning.

5. 51 km to go

   Zakarin attacks Froome

   Zakarin springs from the Froome group in the final kilometre, dropping Contador in the process.

6. 6At the line

   López wins on Sierra Nevada

   Miguel Ángel López takes his second stage of the race atop the Alto Hoya de la Mora, with Zakarin second.
