   A twelve-man break

   A group of twelve slips away on the first climb of the queen stage and builds over five minutes before Astana take up the chase for López.

2. 28 km to go

   The last attack swept up

   Iván García jumps from the break onto the approach to Covadonga but is reeled in with 8km to go as the GC men close.

3. 36 km to go

   Pinot attacks with panache

   On the steepest section, 6km from the fog-shrouded summit, Thibaut Pinot attacks from the select group and carves out a winning margin.

4. 4At the line

   Pinot wins through the fog

   Pinot soloes to victory atop Lagos de Covadonga while the overall contenders mark, squabble and wave each other through, the red jersey unchanged.
