At the start

A time trial ending on a wall

The Angliru left three men in it: Carapaz back in red, Roglič ten seconds down, Hugh Carthy at 32 after winning up there, Dan Martin at 35. Today is the Vuelta's only time trial and its oddest — 33 kilometres of flat, fast Galician coast road out of Muros, and then the Mirador de Ézaro, a ramp of barely two kilometres with pitches past 20%, straight into the line.

   Roglič on the flat

   On the rolling time trial through Galicia Roglič sets the fastest splits, hunting down the ten seconds that separate him from Carapaz in red.

2. 22 km to go

   Where the time trial ends

   At the foot of the Mirador de Ézaro the race against the clock stops being one: under two kilometres of it, pitches past 20%, and every rider arrives there having already emptied himself on the coast road.

3. 3At the line

   Roglič retakes red

   Roglič blasts up the Ezaro to win the stage and overturn his deficit to Carapaz, seizing the red jersey for a third time.
