Moncalvillo, 8km at 9%

Nothing moved yesterday: Carapaz still leads Carthy by eighteen seconds and Roglič by thirty, and Michael Woods took the stage out of the breakaway. Today ends on the Alto de Moncalvillo, reckoned the hardest climb in Rioja — 8.3 kilometres averaging 9.2% up to a cluster of telecoms masts, at the end of a day meandering through the vineyards from Logroño.

How it was won

    Setting up Moncalvillo

On the sharp ramps of the Alto de Moncalvillo Roglič accelerates away from his rivals, the champion answering back after his Formigal setback.

    Roglič wins at Moncalvillo

Roglič takes his second stage of the race atop Moncalvillo, clawing back time and moving up to second overall behind Carapaz.
