At the start

Thirteen seconds, and a flat day

Roglič answered on Moncalvillo, took thirteen seconds back out of Carapaz and moved up to second; Hugh Carthy slipped to fourth. Today is that rare thing at a Vuelta, a stage with no categorised climb at all — 157 kilometres from Castrillo del Val to Aguilar de Campoo, under a thousand metres of climbing all day, and the sprinters have waited five days for it.

How it was won

  1. 12 km to go

    A messy sprint looms

The bunch barrels toward Aguilar de Campoo, the lead-outs tangling on a nervy, wind-affected run to the line.

  2. At the line

    Bennett relegated, Ackermann inherits

Sam Bennett crosses first but is relegated for an irregular sprint, handing the stage to Pascal Ackermann after a chaotic finale.
